Key Information About the DAR

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) was founded on October 11, 1890, and incorporated by an Act of Congress in 1896.

Motto: God, Home, and Country

Mission: To promote historic preservation, education, and patriotism.

Membership: Approximately 190,000 members in nearly 3,000 chapters throughout the United States and internationally.

National Reach: DAR chapters are located in all 50 states, Washington, D.C., and numerous international locations.

Legacy: Since its founding, more than one million women have joined the DAR, carrying forward a tradition of service to their communities and country.
